Bambusi Bread Slicer: The Bambüsi Bamboo Guides, With and Without Knife
The Bambusi bread slicer is a bamboo slicing guide from Bambüsi, a US home-goods brand with its team in New York. The version on Amazon is the foldable BAM-FBS with a knife, crumb tray and three slots from 1/4 to 1/2 inch; Bambüsi also sells a larger adjustable guide without a knife (BAM-ABS). Both guide your own cut – they are not machines – and both are hand-wash only.

The short version
Bambüsi makes bamboo slicing guides, not hand-crank slicers. The BAM-FBS folds flat, comes with a stainless bread knife on a magnetic holder and a crumb tray, and per its listing takes loaves up to about 5.5 inches wide and 5 inches tall in three slots of 0.25, 0.38 and 0.5 inch. The BAM-ABS has adjustable side panels and two thicknesses, without knife.
Who is behind Bambüsi
Bambüsi – often typed “Bambusi” without the umlaut – is a US home-goods brand. Its about page describes a family business with a small team, says every product is designed in the United States, and names a New York workshop where custom shelves and personalized gifts are made. Beyond bread slicers, the range covers cutting boards, cheese and charcuterie boards, kitchen utensils, bathroom and storage items. For the bread slicers, neither the product page nor the Amazon listing states where they are manufactured, and the about page refers only to “trusted makers”.
What this means for you: Bambüsi is a bamboo-goods brand that sells slicing guides, not a maker of slicing machines. If you are comparing it with a crank slicer, the right starting point is guide or hand-crank slicer.

The Amazon listing fills in the numbers the maker's page leaves out: slots at 0.25, 0.38 and 0.5 inch, loaves up to 5.5 inches wide and 5 inches tall, a 13-inch knife with an 8-inch serrated blade, a separate flat cutting guide board, silicone feet and a one-year manufacturer warranty. Its size figure (13.5 × 8.75 × 5.5 in, 2.9 lb) differs from the maker's, so treat dimensions as approximate.
The weak points follow from the numbers. A 5-inch height limit leaves the dome of a tall pan loaf above the guide. The thickest slot is 1/2 inch. And an 8-inch blade is shorter than the 9 inches America's Test Kitchen recommends as a minimum for a bread knife. Our product entry uses the maker's page (item BAM-FBS) for materials, box contents and size; the slot widths and loaf limits come from the listing.
BAM-ABS: the larger guide without knife
The adjustable model is bigger on paper – 17.5 × 13 × 2.5 inches – with side panels that move to fit different loaf widths, two slicing thicknesses, a crumb tray and a crumb sweeper brush, and it also folds flat. Bambüsi sells it without a knife and gives no loaf height. We have no Amazon listing of it in our data.
The 10-inch knife
If you buy the BAM-ABS, or the 8-inch knife of the BAM-FBS is too short for your loaves, Bambüsi's own BAM-BK10 has a 10-inch blade of one-piece forged high-carbon stainless steel, a scalloped serrated edge and an ABS handle. Bambüsi calls it dishwasher safe but recommends hand washing to keep it sharp. Other knives that pair with a guide are on bread knife with guide.
Care
Bambüsi's instructions are short: wipe with a damp cloth, dry thoroughly, avoid soaking and prolonged contact with standing water. The listing adds warm soapy water for the bamboo and says the included knife can go in the dishwasher. Bamboo guides in general are compared on the bamboo bread slicer page.

Who Bambüsi suits
The BAM-FBS fits bakers of pan loaves who do not own a long bread knife yet and want a guide, a knife and a crumb tray in one box. For tall or wide loaves, a guide with a published loaf size or a crank slicer is the safer choice. All guides are compared on the bread slicing guide page, and our method is on how we compare. The Bambüsi guide is available as Bambüsi bread slicer with knife on Amazon*.
Questions readers ask
Who makes the Bambusi bread slicer?
Bambüsi, a home-goods brand that describes itself as a family business with a small team. Its about page says every product is designed in the United States and that custom shelves and personalized gifts are made in its New York workshop. For the bread slicers, the page names no factory or country of manufacture, and the listing does not either.
Does the Bambusi bread slicer come with a knife?
The foldable model BAM-FBS does: Bambüsi lists a stainless steel bread knife and a crumb tray in the box, with magnetic storage on the slicer. The Amazon listing describes a 13-inch knife with an 8-inch serrated blade. The adjustable model BAM-ABS comes without a knife; Bambüsi sells a 10-inch serrated knife separately.
How do you clean a Bambusi bread slicer?
Bambüsi says to wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it thoroughly, and to avoid soaking or prolonged contact with standing water. The listing adds hand washing in warm soapy water for the bamboo. The knife is listed as dishwasher safe; for its separate 10-inch knife, Bambüsi still recommends hand washing to keep it sharp.
Will a sourdough loaf fit the Bambusi slicer?
A small one may. The BAM-FBS listing names loaves up to about 5.5 inches wide and 5 inches tall, which is less than many round sourdough loaves. Bambüsi states no loaf limits for the larger BAM-ABS. Measure your loaf at the widest and tallest point before buying; wide boules are usually better served by a hand-crank slicer.
